The job, step by step
We excavate and form the footings first. The depth and bearing get verified before the pour, and the concrete waits until that check passes. Next we install the posts and beams, which form the primary load path that everything above rests on. Joists go on that structure, then the decking, fastened with deck screws. Railings and stairs come last, built to the dimensions the final inspection measures.
Checking your lot before we place footings
Flood exposure in Marietta varies from one address to the next, and the city offers a floodplain lookup for each property. We run that lookup for your lot before we settle on the deck's height or put a post near a drainage corridor. If the result calls for it, we raise the elevation or move post locations while the plan is still on paper, which costs far less than relocating a footing after the pour.

What the materials add to the budget
Decking material on the jobs we price runs $3,200 to $4,800. Framing materials (joists, beams, posts and hardware) run $1,800 to $3,000. Each appears as its own line on our quote because each one moves with the deck's size and layout: a larger surface means more decking, and a taller or more spread-out structure means more framing. We can give you a typical range on the phone, then confirm the exact figure once we have seen your lot.
What the final inspection checks
Because we build the railings and stairs to those measurements from the start, the inspection confirms work that is already correct and does not turn up surprises. Give us a call with your address. We will run the floodplain lookup and walk you through how this sequence fits your lot.
