Store installs compared with a local crew
The people who measure your deck are the people who build it. We find the ledger location ourselves and confirm every joist hanger is seated before we move to the next step. If you have a question later about how the deck meets the house or how the boards are held down, you call us, not a middleman.
Framing and fastening details we include
Once the ledger is up and flashed, we set joists at code-compliant spacing and spans and fasten them with hangers or connectors sized for the job. We check each joist for bearing and hanger fit before any decking goes down.
Every decking board is fastened to each joist it crosses with two ring-shank 8D nails or 2-1/2 inch wood screws, or the deck screws the product specifies. Two fasteners per joist keeps a board from cupping or working loose under foot traffic, and the ring shank grips the wood so nails don't back out over time.

How our quotes break out the numbers
On our written quote, labor and the railing system are two separate lines. Make the deck bigger and the labor line moves; switch to a different railing and only the railing line changes. On the call we'll quote a typical range for each line, then confirm the exact figures once we've walked the house and the yard.
Building to Marietta's current code
Marietta enforces the 2024 edition of the International Residential Code, with the 2026 Georgia Amendments, on any project permitted after January 1, 2026. We draw the plans to that code, so the ledger attachment, joist spans and guards are set to the current requirements before the permit goes in. Call us to talk through your deck.
